Health and Environment: Global Partners for Global Solutions Conference.

Since l992, WIT has convened what we believe to be one of the world’s premier forums for the presentation of scientific papers by international experts on the growing clinical evidence supporting the link between degrading environments and diminished human health. The conference has been convened as a parallel event to the annual meeting of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development. The scientific papers presented at the conference are available on WIT’s web site.

Comments from Conference Participants

I went into my freshman year eager, yet skeptical of my chosen major: International Relations. As the year progressed and I began studying the subject of International Relations, I grew more and more comfortable with my career choice. The complexity and importance of global affairs fascinates me, and attending the World Information Transfer’s conference at the United Nations building perfectly capped my first year of study. The conference was a remarkably educational experience that sparked interests and ideas I otherwise might not have explored. I am already eager to attend more conferences and hopefully participate in some ofthe organizations internship programs.

Sincerely,
Kevin M.

My name is Peter R., a graduate of the West Chester Area School District. It has been an honor and a great joy to attend World Information Transfer Conference’s at the United Nations since I was in the 5th grade, in the spring of 2000. My first trip to the UN was part of my first trip to New York, the city that I fell in love with, that I’m going to school in, that I now live in.  Over the last ten years, I have strengthened and made many ties with leaders of WIT, such as Dr. Christine K. Durbak, Dr. Claudia Strauss and Carolyn Comitta. At this year’s Conference, I remembered first making my way to the UN with my father. I would have never, at 10, been able to tell you where we were, how we got there and how to get back.

Attending the Conference has been extremely valuable, as a result, I have been, from a young age, a global thinker. My UN experiences have propelled me into the world (Italy, Greece); to understand each individual I meet, to identify issues we all face, etc.To conclude, these are not experiences that many will be able to have but, I believe it is imperative to include as many young people as possible.  Early access to an international environment in a setting such as the UN has been extremely valuable to me and I imagine that it would be for other young people as well.

Thank you so much,
Peter R.

Congratulations on a well-organized and well received conference! I know how tirelessly you all worked on making everything happen. The speakers were very personable and that is a huge plus in the diplomatic world.

I especially enjoyed the Water Wells for Africa presentation, the luncheon speaker, and the Aid Data presentation.  I cannot commend you all enough on the success of the Conference.

I hope you all were able to enjoy the day amidst your duties and that you continue to enjoy the beautiful spring weather, and love Mother Earth.

Happy Earth Day Every Day!
Peter R.
